A Letter From Cody Snider

In 2016, I began working for a major online airsoft retailer. The company generated sales, mostly to teenagers who played airsoft for fun on the weekends. But every once in a while, I'd observe airsoft guns being purchased by law enforcement officers and military personnel. So, I asked them why they were purchasing airsoft.
From police, the refrain was consistent: they either couldn’t afford, or couldn't procure, Simunition or UTM for their non-lethal training.
The U.S. military was experiencing a different pain point. They could afford to use Simuntion and UTM, but planning a training event was a major challenge. Rifles were stored in the armory; ammunition was stored in an ammo supply point. And they could only use the equipment on a flat range, in a shoot house, or at another approved location. Military personnel purchased airsoft guns because they allowed them to train on their own footprint, without the red tape.
In both cases, the end user was forced to compromise. Their only choices were:
- An unrealistic airsoft training system, because better equipment was either inaccessible or unaffordable.
- An expensive force-on-force training system whose usage was limited to approved training locations.
I identified a gap in the market—and after years of discussions with end users, I felt compelled to fill it. In 2016, Unit Solutions was born. We invented our patented training system from the ground up.
The UNIT4 Training Rifle is an authentic, realistic, dedicated non-lethal M4 Training platform. It’s a standalone system that can never be converted to a real AR-15, and is classified by the ATF as a non-firearm. The UNIT4 is not dependent on drop-in bolt conversion kits.
The UNIT4 is manufactured in the USA through the AR supply chain. More than 90% of its components come from the military-grade 7075 aluminum M4 platform system. We kept the real steel, and filled it with pneumatic internals.
The UNIT4 mimics an M4 in fit, form and function, and offers users a realistic, non-lethal rifle that can be deployed in any setting.
